Week 2
June 2nd
It's week 2 of the season already!!
- Parent Meeting: Please see the attachment for the agenda, print as you desire. In an effort to reduce costs, we will not bring printed copies of the agenda to the meeting. The 1st meeting is at 7:30 a.m. and the 2nd meeting is at 7:00 p.m. Both meetings are located at the pool under the awnings with the picnic tables.
- Team Tees: Team t-shirts will be distributed on Friday during practice.
- 1st Meet: Our first meet is THIS SATURDAY! We are having a home meet with Huntington Hills Froggers. All swimmers should arrive by 6:45 a.m. for warm ups.
- Meet Set Up: We could use some parents to help set up for the meet on Friday night. This is when we set up the flags, clear the chairs, install the blocks, etc... and we need all the help we can get. Plan to arrive @ 7:45 P.M. If you help set up, you are permitted to set up your tents at the same time.
- Speaking of the Meet: Coach Sheridan has set Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. as the deadline to declare your swimmer for the 1st meet. Please go onto the website, click on:
- Events
- All Events
- Scroll down to the HH Froggers Meet
- Click on "Meet Entry"
- Then click on "Job Sign Ups" to volunteer. We still have plenty of spots open for your volunteering opportunities. :)
- Timer Training: If you are apprehensive about timing the meets, Jim Garett, PTS Treasurer and Timer Extraordinaire, is offering *FREE* training! That's righ folks! FREE! He is at the pool daily for the 7 a.m. practice. This training will take no longer than the amount of time your swimmers are in the pool. Timing is one of those volunteer jobs that is incredibly essential and we cannot run a meet without enough timers. Bonus: you get up close and personal to the pool!!
- Dry Land Practice Possiblity for Monday: In looking at the forecast for tomorrow (Monday) morning, we see that it's going to be pretty chilly. Please have your swimmers dressed for a Dry-Land Day. Plan for Sweatshirts, athletic pants/leggings, and tennis shoes for tomorrow.
- Communicating with Coaches: I hate to continue to harp on this subject, but....Parents are not permitted to be on the deck to have discussions with coaches during practice. All communication should go through Coach Sheridan BEFORE or AFTER practice. We want to ensure the safety of all swimmers and this means we cannot have coachs' eyes off of them during practice. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Continued concerns of parents engaging with coaches and/or swimmers during practice (on the deck) will be asked to meet with the team president.
- Swim Evaluation Results: For those who are new to our team this year, we implemented an evaluation system to ensure all swimmers are able to swim the minimum distance required for meets according their age groups. Coach Sheridan will be making contact with the families of those swimmers who are not going to be able to continue with the team by Thursday evening. For those who are suggested to continue with swim lessons, you will be given a full refund.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the parent meetings tomorrow!
