What are the requirements to join the team?
There are three requirements to joining the Tiger Sharks Swim Team.
1. Swimmers must be between the ages of 5 and 18 on May 31st of the current season.
2. While we welcome all levels of swimmers to our team, our requirement is that your child can swim the minimum stroke distance for their age group. That’s 25 M for 10 & younger, and 50 M for 11 & older.
3. Parents or guardians MUST volunteer.
What if my child isn't a great swimmer yet?
No worries! We offer a two-week trial period so your swimmer can give the team a try. During practices, swimmers are grouped by skill level instead of age, which helps everyone feel comfortable and supported. Our amazing coaches will help your swimmer build confidence and develop the skills they need to be meet-ready by the time our first swim meet rolls around.
If, after the trial period, our coaches feel your swimmer would benefit more from swim lessons before joining the team, we’ll kindly recommend they take lessons this summer and try out again next season. Our goal is to make sure every swimmer feels safe, supported, and ready to succeed.
What are practices like?
Practices focus on stroke development, technique, and building endurance, all while keeping it fun and encouraging. Swimmers will practice with others at their same skill level (not age), so everyone gets the right level of challenge. Our coaches mix drills, games, and feedback to help swimmers improve while staying engaged.
Practices end promptly at 8:50 AM, and all swimmers and families must leave the pool property by 9:00 AM.
What if my swimmer has to miss a practice or a swim meet?
We understand that life happens! Missing an occasional practice is no problem—just come to the next one ready to jump back in. If your swimmer needs to miss a swim meet, please let the coaches know in advance, since relays and event lineups are planned ahead of time.
What are swim meets like?
Swim meets are one of the best parts of the season! Every swimmer will be placed in events, and coaches make sure everyone gets a chance to participate. Meets are a great opportunity for swimmers to show off their progress and cheer on their teammates.
Parent volunteers are essential to making meets run smoothly—it’s truly a team effort. But don’t worry—no matter what role you volunteer for, you’ll still get to watch your swimmer race.
What should I bring to a swim meet?
First and foremost, your team spirit! Other things to bring:
- Towels - typically one for each event plus warm-ups
- Swim cap
- Water
- Goggles
- Team Suit
- Sharpie
- Chairs and blankets
